The Taoist CenterPoster for Annual Taosist GatheringFor this concept, I wanted to pair opposite elements of Taoist philosophy—the dragon and phoenix. Balance of opposites is central to the philosophy of Taoism. All art was retouched in Adobe Photoshop and the typography designed in InDesign. -
The Taoist CenterProgram for Annual Taoist GatheringFor the cover, using a photo of the founder, I created a duotone image with brush-stroked edges to convey antiquity and craftsmanship. Inside, I was able to direct the eye with valuable white space, and used a photograph I took of an iconic statue of the philosopher Laozi which is located at Center. -
The Taoist CenterCase Cover for Qi Gong DVDThis cover was for an instructional video of Animal Qi Gong, a form of movements imitating the tiger, bear, monkey, crane, and deer. I put one photo of each animal in five slices of a circle, in order to convey each as a piece of being whole. I used a lush green forest for the background, to add color, texture, and a sense of the wild. -
The Taoist CenterPoster for Annual Taosist GatheringFor this poster I paired water and fire which are opposite elements of Taoist philosophy. This concept was to visually communicate balance (the Yin Yang symbol) which is central to Taoism. Both photos were edited and composited in Adobe Photoshop. -
Holy Names UniversityHNU Today MagazineThe Director of Marketing had asked me to design the cover for their alumni magazine’s 140th anniversary. For the logotype I combined a classic roman font with a modern sans serif font. The idea was to convey the university’s rich, traditional history along with their contemporary programs. The gold color was to be used exclusively for the 140th anniversary issue as a special touch to the familiar maroon. -
Contra Costa Child Care CouncilAnnual Report 1I designed four Annual Reports for the Council. This is the 1st. Given the organization serves families and children, I focused on the close-ups of children's faces to evoke that endearing feeling only a child's smile can bring. For this project I introduced a color palette, as part of the graphic standards I created. -
Contra Costa Child Care CouncilAnnual Report 2This is the 4th Annual Report I designed for the Council. The previous three covers were predominantly blue, so I made this one white with blue accents for a fresh look. I went on location to take the photographs of the beneficiaries of the Council's services that were featured inside. -
