Checking the room before you and your guests enter, keeping an eye on the clock, making sure suppliers are ready, spotting the thing nobody else has noticed yet… and yes, occasionally moving something two inches because it really does make a difference.

There are so many tiny decisions being made behind the scenes on a wedding day. The aim is that you don’t have to think about any of them.

You get to be present. To take it all in. To actually enjoy the celebration you’ve spent months looking forward to.

We take care of the rest.

The finished photographs are beautiful, but this is the work that makes them possible.

And I really do love it.

People often meet the finished version of my work. People often meet the finished version of my work.

The beautiful room, the flowers, the tablescape. The couple finally seeing everything they imagined brought to life.

What you don’t always see are the hundreds of thoughtful decisions that make those moments possible.

Wedding planning is wonderfully creative, but it’s also strategic, logistical and deeply people-centred. It’s timelines and floor plans, supplier conversations and guest experience, anticipating what might be needed before anyone has to ask.

And I genuinely love that part.

For me, the beauty isn’t separate from all the planning happening behind the scenes. It’s the result of it.

The beautiful expectation AND the intentional reality.

Both are why I love what I do.

One of my earliest AVE weddings and words that sti One of my earliest AVE weddings and words that still mean a great deal to me. 🤍

When I started AVE Creations, I knew the kind of planner I wanted to be.

I wanted my couples to feel looked after. I wanted to notice the things they shouldn’t have to think about, to do the work with care, calmly and graciously, even when there was a lot happening behind the scenes.

This was one of the first weddings I worked on after starting my business, and it took me to Paris. 🇫🇷

Looking back at it now, what makes me proud isn’t simply how far AVE Creations has come since then. It is recognising that the things they valued in me at the beginning are still the things I care most about today.

The weddings, experience and business have grown. But the intention behind the work has not changed.

I have been in a reflective mood lately and I am elated every time I think back on the amazing couples I have as the privilege of working with. So many of my wins aren’t simply about becoming someone new - they are the evidence that I have stayed true to who I set out to be.

Bringing this reel back because I still wholeheart Bringing this reel back because I still wholeheartedly believe it: a personal ceremony deserves thoughtful preparation.

I keep reading or hearing rhetoric around letting a loved one conduct your ceremony…

Having a friend or family member lead yours can be lovely. If that’s what you want, give them the support to do it well. A celebrant or writer can help shape the script and rehearse it with them, so they can focus on delivering it with confidence.

Having said that, if you’d rather let your loved ones relax and be fully present - which I highly recommend, Hire a celebrant. ✨

(Obviously none of this applies if you are having a civil or religious ceremony only.)

Celebrants for the win!

Sharing a little something I’ve been thinking ab Sharing a little something I’ve been thinking about…a hot take if you will: f videography is within your wedding budget, I would not treat it as the first thing to cut.

I know photographs are essential. I believe video deserves serious consideration too, because there are things a photograph cannot give back to you: a voice, a laugh, the way someone said your name.

My parents have been married for almost 42 years, and they have a wedding video. I can watch the beginning of a love story that shaped my life. That film became a gift for my brother and me, as well as for them.

I believe you should choose a photographer and videographer whose work you love and whose company you enjoy. They’ll be close to you for much of the day. And if yours is a multicultural or fusion wedding, ask to see how they’ve captured celebrations like yours, particularly people with different skin tones.

Your photos and film may become part of your family’s story long after the wedding is over.

Would you have a wedding video?

Some creative decisions only reveal their magic wh Some creative decisions only reveal their magic when the whole room comes together…

During the design process, our bride had envisaged having three candles on each table. Miriam of @_miriam_faith_ suggested building on that idea, using more candlelight to create the warmth and atmosphere we envisioned for the room.

Thankfully, our beautiful bride trusted us. And then came the room reveal.

She walked into the finished space, accompanied by her dashing new husband, took everything in and said, “I completely understand now.”

The candlelight transformed the tables, while Miriam’s florals exceeded every expectation. Our bride spent the rest of her wedding gushing about the flowers.

It remains one of my favourite room reveals, not only because the space looked beautiful, but because we witnessed the moment every carefully considered detail came together.

It’s one of the many reasons I advocate for couples having a room reveal before guests enter.
